On the occasion of the preparations for Hanna Perla's new single to be released soon, I had the pleasant honor of having a chat with her, to let you know her better. Some of you may remember her from participating in The Voice years ago. Hanna Perla is an Italian pop singer born in 1997, who is about to make her debut in the world of music and thanks to Lorenzo from StudioNotik, I was able to do this short interview with her.
-How did your passion for music start?
I've always felt that I have art flowing through my veins since I was little, I had just learned to speak and I already sang the theme songs of all the cartoons I watched, obviously as time went by I evolved and I started to thinking of becoming a singer when I approached some old-fashioned artists, those who will never die, I'll give you a few examples: Mina, Mia Martini, Caterina Caselli and so on and so forth. All this thanks to my great grandmother who commissioned me the songs to sing! Little curiosity: my great grandmother had about fifteen brothers and sisters, since they all sang they called them 'the little singers of Talamona' which would be my town.
-How long ago did you start writing?
I started writing just over 4 years ago, I had been trying for years but I had never managed to churn out something that satisfied me, four years ago I moved to Bologna and I can say that I started writing right there, in those years I felt emotions that I had never felt before, they pushed me to become a 360-degree artist step by step, even if you never stop growing in this field, it's difficult to be 100% satisfied with yourself )
-The first songs you made and that shaped you?
I wrote several pieces in these four years, 99% will probably never come out, it was my apprenticeship consequently every crumb of these pieces has been essential for my growth, both in terms of writing both in terms of timbre and emotional level.
-Do you prefer interpreting other people's texts or your own?
I prefer to interpret mine only because I feel a lot more emotions, I know what I'm saying, I know what I wrote so it comes more naturally to me. I also enjoy covers but it's a totally different story, they have to get to my heart to make me sing them with passion, it's very important to understand and immerse yourself in the lyrics of the songs, something that in 2023 many underestimate. If it helps anyone, I can say that I started writing the moment I was able to understand the real meaning of a text, without learning it mechanically.
-Have you released any singles yet?
Yes, I have a single called 'It doesn't matter anymore' you can find it on all the various music platforms.
-Do you have singles planned?
I have more than one planned, but it's always a work in progress. As I said before it's hard to be 100% satisfied, maybe one day I think the lyrics and the melody are ok but the next day I change my mind and change everything. I think the next piece to come out will be Alcatraz, I still have to finish it but if you want a spoiler you can find it in my reels on Instagram.
-How did your collaboration with Studionotik come about?
It was unexpected, I met Lorenzo Zamboni in 2021 while I was working as a bartender in a campsite in Viareggio, he was there for a photo shoot and obviously I didn't hesitate, I immediately chatted! Then with time everything was born a bit.
-As I said in the initial presentation, many will perhaps remember your participation in The Voice, would you like to tell us about this experience?
My experience at The Voice was a bit of love and a bit of hate, love because I found myself in an environment where I was surrounded by artists from whom I learned something new every day, I launched myself and managed to break down any kind of anxiety, when I was on stage I had the eyes of a person in love, in the true sense of the word. I hate because I realized that too many people choose a path solely for fame, there are people who haven't answered my cell phone since the same night I left the program, because I no longer mattered to them. I won't generalize because I've met so many wonderful people thanks to this experience, with whom I'm still in touch after almost five years! And then what to say, we know that bad apples fall everywhere but this is something I've understood over the years.
